$3590 / 28720kr was the closing bid on this 1976 Abu Ambassadeur 5500C Deluxe Gold Plated Set. 28 bids and full description as it appeared below. This is the Very Rare Abu Ambassadeur 5500C Deluxe Bait Casting Reel. It is a kind of Silver Blue colour and all of the parts that are normally chrome are Gold Plated on this model. It is in Absolutely Mint Condition and has never been fished. I guarantee that this reel is all original. (It was an anniversary gift when new). Included with the reel is the original wood box containing a small tube of spare parts, an extra spool, a bottle of oil, a dark blue bag, and a wrench. There is also a small sterling silver plate designed to be engraved with the name of the owner. It is not attached to the wood box and it has not been engraved. It is somewhat tarnished but I will not polish it as I want to leave it in its' original condition. I do not have the instruction papers or the original cardboard box. I think this was made in 1976. The number on the base plate is 761000. It has the red "high speed" sticker and the red "G" sticker

Complete collection of the Napp & Nytt Series from Gote Borgstrom. 4 bids and sold for $2025 Seller was a very well known person within the "Collectors Circle" but no names here ! And what a collectors dream this was.. Here was the full description.. If you collect ABU-Garcia, you will understand that this is a very special collectible.  The founder of AB Urfabriken (ABU) in Sweden was Carl August Borgstrom (1921), but the man who turned the company in the direction of making fishing tackle in 1939 was his son, Gote Borgstrom.  In 1948 ABU began publishing its annual catalog known as Napp och Nytt- covering all tackle products (rods, lures, early Record reels, Ambassadeur, Cardinal and the like.)  An English version called Tight Lines was made available in the late 1950s, along with other national editions. In 1948, Gote began setting aside one copy of the Swedish catalog for his personal collection.  This is his actual collection, obtained from his secretary Inga Augustinsson.  It contains one sample from each year, spanning 1948 (first edition) to 1970- around the time his son Lennart took the reigns.  These catalogs have been stored in plastic sheaths for nearly 60 years, and are in nearly mint condition.  It is truly one of a kind, and the auction winner will be the only one in the world with such a piece in your collection. The four first editions do not depict the year on the cover, and Gote himself wrote the dates (1948, '49, '50, and '51) on the respective covers, truly a form of autograph and provinance (see photos). $660 for a Record Ambassadeur 5000 mod SG. Well personally I think the buyer got a bargain on this reel. Looked to be in good - v.g.cond with correct case and accessories. Obvious pitting / boat rash on the top of the plates..Judge yourself.

$440 for this beautiful complete Record 2000 set. All details are included in the photos. Another  good example of how to sell a reel !

$357 was the selling price after 8 bids on this Record Ambassadeur 5000. As you can see in the pics it has the Roman Numeral marks, indicating that it is an early model production. Good description, Lots of photo's, good example of how to present an item for auction ! Reel had boat rash on the top of the plates, other than that it looked to be a nice collectable.

$340 for this near mint Abu Ambassadeur 6500C. Serial was 740802 and as you can see the reel came with its leather case and box. 20 bids on this super sort after reel.

An Abu 888 sold for $270 after 5 bids. Described as being in good working cond.

$2028 - What a Xmas present for the Abu Collector who has everything, EXCEPT for a RECORD 400.. Described as being in good used condition this reel fetched 16 bids. According to the seller the Record 400 is Only made in 1954. Imported from Sportex in Germany and marked both sportex and Record. And I would have to agree with his other comments - that being "A Very Hard Reel to Find"..

$241 for another fairly hard find - A RECORD 1000. No description whatsoever about the cond. of the reel only that it was made in the 50's !! Well I don't know about you guys, but i certainly dont buy reels that dont have any description whatsoever.. "In Good Working Cond"... Would have been enough for me to have laid a bid ! And nooooooo i dont have the time or patience to ask sellers about their reels.. I mean i would not sell my car with just a few photo's ! Credit to the seller for very good photo's however... A picture is better than a thousand words... but a few words help!

A Record 700, Described as possibly never fished with sold for $130. The carton was NOT complete as the bottom was missing.

For the Abu collector these 6 (Record Fish) gold badges (made from material) was a nice addition to any collection.. As with the Abu Pins, these badges also came in Silver and Bronze, and in most cases the word "Gold" always seems to attract good bids !! As a bonus you also receive 4 x Badges from Swedish Sportfisherman Club...$94 was the winning bid...
